The final round of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup brought Reece Barr and the #23 McLaren 720S GT3 crew to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for one last showdown to close an intense and competitive season. Warm Spanish skies, a packed grid, and high tension made for a fitting finale to the 2025 campaign.
The team arrived with momentum and immediately showed front-running pace. Reece topped the timing sheets in Free Practice, going P1 in class and setting the tone for the weekend. In qualifying, the full line-up delivered an exceptional performance, securing P2 in class and an impressive P9 overall against a fiercely competitive field. “The car felt incredible all weekend,” said Reece. “From the first run in FP, everything clicked. It was one of those rare times where you feel completely in sync with the car and circuit.”
Alex took the start and managed the opening stint with precision, holding position inside the top ten and keeping the #23 McLaren in contention. A mid-race strategy call unfortunately did not play out as expected, dropping the team back to 45th overall and turning the race into a fightback.
Reece took over for the second stint and delivered one of his strongest drives of the season. With confidence and determination, he carved through heavy traffic, pulling off bold overtakes and recovering over 15 positions. “That stint was one of my favourites of the year,” said Reece. “The car felt great, and I just went for it. Every lap was full commitment, racing hard and clean. You could really feel the momentum building again.”
Tommy continued the charge in the closing stages, maintaining the pace and gaining more positions to bring the #23 home in P4 in class. The recovery drive showcased the team’s resilience and speed, proving once again that they could fight at the sharp end of the field.
“It was a huge team effort,” said Reece. “We had the pace to challenge for the win, and even though strategy did not go our way, we fought back hard and showed what we were capable of. It was a strong way to finish the season.”
The Barcelona finale summed up the spirit of the campaign. It was fast, hard-fought, and full of belief. For Barr and the #23 McLaren crew, it was the perfect reflection of a year defined by teamwork, progress, and determination to keep pushing forward.
We welcomed both Matt from Muloot Money & Andy from Lockton to this finale weekend at Barcelona. It was a real pleasure hosting them to close out the season and excited for what is to come from our amazing partnerships.
